RIRIE-WOODBURY'S EQUILIBRIUM Lose your EQUILIBRIUM with Karole Armitage, the “Punk Ballerina” recently nominated for a 2009 Tony for her choreography of Hair. Then in the spirit of shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” you will vote on your own local artists. Four Utah choreographers will each create a short tongue-in-cheek work on the theme of social change you decide which new dance will be included in the Company’s touring repertory. REPERTORY DANCE THEATRE'S ELEMENTS (Earth, Air, Fire, & Water) ELEMENTS will bring together choreographers, composers, writers and visual artists to explore issues facing the West as well as our global society. This performance features historic reconstructions, contemporary restaging and the launch of a new project to encourage enviornmental responsibility. This concert will feature the work of Ze'eva Cohen, Paul Sanasardo, Eric Handman, Mary Frances Lloyd, and Zvi Gotheiner who will each incorpoerate a different element of nature into their choreography. REPERTORY DANCE THEATRE'S MYSTIQUE (East meets West) RDT celebrates the choreography and history of legendary choreographer Michio Ito. Michio Ito (1893-1961) consciously created dance blending elements of "east" and "west". He was a pioneer who fused eastern and western music, poetry and drama, to create universal choreographies that have left a footprint in American Modern Dance. Also featured in this performance is a new work by Andrea Miller and Kraak by Jo Stromgren which both fall in line with the East meets West theme of the evening. RIRIE- WOODBURY'S PROPEL PROPEL yourself into the artistry of contemporary dance. Stretch the boundaries of both dance and theatre with works by four choreographers including a world premiere by John Jasperse (NY). His emotionally charged and abstract style will challenge your assumption of how to view Dance.
